The New Something Whitty!
I am so excited to share the new Something Whitty with you all! My friend Ashley, from @withlove.ashleym, recently launched her web design business. I was lucky enough to be able to work with her to redesign my entire site. She walked me through every step of the process and made sure that my vision came to life.
The OG Something Whitty
I first launched Something Whitty in November 2016 on Blogger. A couple of years later, I made the switch to WordPress, which is much more user friendly. If you’re a blogger or anyone looking to create a website, I highly recommend using WordPress over another platform.
When I decided to make the move over to WordPress, I had no clue what I was doing. I had to google every little thing in order to migrate my site from one platform to another. I was able to figure it out on my own, but didn’t know how to add any type of advanced settings to my website. Ever since then, I’ve been thinking about updating my site, but didn’t decide to do it until Ashley said she could help.
The New Something Whitty
Ashley was able to completely transform my website. What used to be a pretty basic site with limited functionality, is now a beautiful, advanced site with shopping features, a way better home page, and a much more organized navigation.
I started out the redesign process by sending Ashley a few websites I liked. I tried to be as specific as possible – pointing out fonts, colors, layouts, navigation menus, headers, etc. that I liked or didn’t like. From there, she put together a color palette along with some font and logo options. After we decided on those items, she went into full designer mode. We created a staging site for Something Whitty so that Ashley could work on the backend without disrupting my live site. I was also able to log in to the staging site so I could check anything she wanted me to.
We exchanged several emails talking about the homepage, category pages, shop pages, and more – and what additional items I wanted to add or remove. It was such an easy process and Ashley made sure that everything I asked for was done. I was so impressed with how quickly she was able to update everything and make the site look brand new!
Favorite Part of Something Whitty
My favorite feature about my new site is the Shop pages. Now you can easily shop anything that I post on Instagram or Like to Know It. Ashley created a Shop tab with drop downs to My Instagram, My Closet, and My Home. If you click on My Closet or My Home, you’ll be directed to a page with tabs that are organized my category. Under My Closet you can find all types of items I’ve posted – accessories, dresses, shoes, jackets, etc. And under My Home, you can shop by each room in my house. All you have to do is click on the item you’re interested in and you’ll be taken directly to the retailer’s website to purchase it.
I am so happy with how the new Something Whitty turned out and I can’t wait to see what other beautiful websites Ashley designs. Take a look around and let me know what you think! If you’re looking for website design, branding, or other design projects, check out Ashley’s website.
xoxo,
Whit
